Why “Sunset”?

A nod to Neal’s favorite time of day. He believed sunset is a perfect time to put in one last push of effort at day’s end. We carry this forward as leadership gifts that accelerate access to care.

Recognition

Early access and invitations to leadership briefings and private updates; concierge site visits by arrangement; reserved seating and premium recognition at donor events. No swag, just stewardship that respects your time and values.

Your Generosity in Action

(And why it matters)

1) Individual Medical Grants
Therapies, procedures, mobility/communication equipment, and care-related travel and lodging. Each request is vetted by staff and approved by a donor-led grants committee, ensuring stewardship by peers. Awards follow our Medical Necessity policy and are prioritized by clinical urgency and the least-cost appropriate solution.

2) Access Acceleration (Provider Partnerships)
Time-bound organizational grants to trusted clinics and hospitals that add capacity and reduce wait times (e.g., on-site QMHP coverage at partner schools, extended after-school clinic hours, and dedicated care navigation). These grants include defined KPIs, a reporting cadence, and performance-based renewal.

3) Navigation & Rapid Response
Small, fast interventions that support transportation, equipment, and other urgent needs to prevent missed appointments and care interruptions.

4) Dignity Support: Love Bags & Essential Kits
Stop-gap essentials for children in treatment or entering foster care—delivered through partners so no child goes without basics between appointments.

  • 100% to programs. Our operations are underwritten, so leadership gifts fund care, not overhead.
  • Clinician-backed need. We rely on provider recommendations and practical criteria to keep decisions focused on health and function.
  • Speed with discipline. We aim to move families from approval to care in days, not weeks, and we compare prices on larger purchases to stretch every dollar.
  • Clear updates. You’ll receive straightforward quarterly snapshots—how quickly funds moved, what they made possible, and stories from families served.

Founders’ Legacy

Honoring Jeanne & Neal Patterson

Jeanne was in the driver’s seat from day one—hands on, practical, and unflinching about getting kids to care. We work every day to reflect her values: urgency, dignity, and doing the simple thing that helps a family now.

The Sunset Society also honors Neal—his love of sunsets, his “one more round after sundown” spirit, and his conviction that we should leave the world better than we found it. This is where leadership gifts carry that spirit forward, turning generosity into access for kids who can’t wait.
