CHILDRENS MERCY + FIRST HAND
First Hand Foundation is a Kansas City–based nonprofit dedicated to helping children who are uninsured or underinsured access necessary medical care. For more than 30 years, First Hand has partnered with medical providers to help families overcome financial barriers at critical moments in care.
Children’s Mercy plays a critical role in advancing pediatric care through clinical excellence, research, and programs that serve children across our region and beyond. This partnership fund exists to complement that work by addressing a different and highly specific need.
Through First Hand, donor support can be designated to help cover medical-related expenses for individual children and families facing financial hardship. This is support that goes beyond what the Children’s Mercy philanthrophy is structured to provide at the patient level.
Together, these models work in tandem. Children’s Mercy delivers world-class care, while First Hand helps ensure that financial barriers do not prevent families from accessing or continuing that care.
Care teams identify children and families facing medical need combined with financial vulnerability.
Restricted funding is used to help address eligible medical-related expenses that fall outside traditional coverage.
Gifts to this fund support children and families in our community through a coordinated, accountable process.
Gifts made through this form are designated for this partnership and used only for the purpose described above.
All gifts made through this page are restricted to the Children’s Mercy + First Hand Partnership Fund.
